Nigerian Singer, Abolore Adigun, Popularly known as ‘9ice’ says he hasn’t forgotten his promise to bring a Grammy award to Nigeria.
9ice had made the pledge on ‘Street Credibility‘, a track on his sophomore album – Tradition.
Speaking in a recent interview with PUNCH, the singer said as long he’s still doing music, the dream of winning a Grammy award remains alive.
He said: “I am still working on bringing the Grammy to Nigeria. Abraham Lincoln tried several times before he became the president of the US while Buhari tried about four times before he became president.”
“As long as I am still doing music, I can still get the Grammy,” 9ice added.
The singer also said he maintains a cordial relationship with his former Coded Tunes label mates, Olamide and Reminisce.
“There is no issue between myself, Olamide and Reminisce. The reason I was not at one of Olamide’s concerts was because I was not in the country and that was the same reason I missed Reminisce album listening party,” he said.
“It is just that our schedules are tighter now. I was on Olamide’s first album and he was on my last album. I have so many songs with Olamide that are yet to be released. I also feature in about four songs with Reminisce that have not yet been released. I am on his recent album.
“It is just that I have a busy schedule now.”
9ice has released six studio albums in the 17 years he’s been active on the music scene.

An epidemic that broke out at the Queen’s College, Lagos has claimed the life of its third victim.
Punch reports that the victim, identified as Praise Sodipo, died at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital, Ikeja.
Praise was an orphan, a Senior Secondary School one pupil, who has been on life support at the Intensive Care Unit before she died late Thursday night.
The President of the school’s Old Girls’ Association, Dr. Frances Ajose, and the Lagos State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Jide Idris, confirmed the development.
You recall many pupils at Queen’s College had been admitted in the school’s sickbay after eating spaghetti and drinking water suspected to have been polluted, in the school.
Two pupils –Vivian Osuiniyi and Bithia Itulua –who were in Junior Secondary School two and three
respectively, reportedly died as a result of the epidemic.
The Minister of Health, Isaac Adewole, had led a team to the school and ordered an investigation into the incident, just as the then Principal of the school, Dr. Lami Amodu, denied the epidemic, blaming the report on haters of the school.
Amodu was later transferred from the school.
Idris, after few weeks, released a statement saying health records from the school’s sickbay indicated that the date of illness was January 16, 2017, and a total of 1,222 pupils presented themselves at the school’s clinic on account of abdominal pain, fever, vomiting and diarrhoea.
The statement noted that 16 cases of illness were admitted in various hospitals. While nine had been discharged, two had been confirmed dead, one was still on admission at the Intensive Care Unit of LASUTH, and three were at the Lagos University Teaching Hospital, Idi Araba.
The PUNCH had also reported that more pupils of the school had taken ill and were being admitted in different hospitals in the state.
On Friday, one of those that had been in a critical condition gave up.
A parent, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said,
“She was one of the first set of students that fell ill. She was an orphan. She went into a coma and was on life support, before she eventually passed on. That has made the death toll to be three now.”
Ajose said she was aware of the development but refused to comment further.
Idris said,
“Yes, another pupil died. She was the one in critical condition. I received a call around 1am on Friday about the death. I don’t have much detail yet.”
A parent, whose child was discharged from the hospital on Thursday, asked the Federal Government to probe the deaths and called for the prosecution of the former principal of the school.
“This should not be swept under the carpet. There have been three deaths because of the carelessness of one person. We have lost these promising ones and their families are now in sorrow. This case must be probed and all those involved brought to book,” he said.

Boko Haram has released new video threatening to behead Cameroon President Paul Biya.
“I would behead you Paul Biya, it’s me that would behead you with the left hand, be ready,” a Boko Haram commander said in French displaying Biya’s picture in a news magazine.
The man later drops the magazine and crushes Biya’s face with his leg, saying “I would behead you, imbecile, sluggard!”.
He said he would decapitate Biya with the left hand, and called him a bigger Christian.
Biya is a catholic who regularly attends church service in Yaounde, the capital of Cameroon.
The terrorist warns residents of other parts of Cameroon that the Boko Haram members were on their way to invade the country.
He warned residents of Maroua, Cameroon’s far north capital, and those in the northern region capital of Garoua, and Ngaoundere that fighters were coming.
Shooting could be heard in the background of the 6-minute clip.
The Boko Haram commander shows shoes, helmets and other military items he claimed belonged to Cameroonian soldiers.
“These are their shoes they left behind, these are their helmets they left behind, these are their mats for prayers they left behind.
“They are fighting God and praying again? I do not understand why you’re still praying?” The Boko Haram terrorist continued in French.
“We are ready to arrive. We are on our way to Maroua, Garoua and Ngaoundere,” he said, naming three capital in northern Cameroon.
“We are on our way to Ebolowa, Yaounde, we will arrive in God’s name,” he added, mentioning the capital of President Paul Biya’s region in the South and the country’s capital itself in Yaounde.
The man displayed identity cards belonging to Cameroonian citizens.
One of the identity cards he placed closer to the camera, in his words, belongs to the minister of defence.
No fewer than 150 Cameroonian soldiers and policemen have been killed by Boko Haram while over 2000 civilians have lost their lives since 2014 in several attacks, including suicide bombings.
In Nigeria, more than 30,000 people have been murdered by members of Boko Haram and over 2million civilians in Northeastern region displaced.

Yesterday, TBoss’ younger sister, Wendy, who is the handler of her official Instagram campaign handle, thanked Nigerians for finally accepting her sister, even when they struggled to fit in here because of their skin colour and hair texture.Wendy who earlier disclosed that they got to know what racism is when they travelled down to Romania to complete their studies, suffered a backlash from followers who accused her of insinuating that Nigerians are racists.
According to her followers, if Nigerians are racists, why do girls bleach? They also accused her of using the post, to play a mind game with Nigerians.

With Bobai Bally Balat, simply known as Bally leaving the Big Brother Naija reality TV show yesterday, there are just 5 housemates left and also fighting for the N25 million and an SUV.
Two Sundays ago, Thin Tall Tony was evicted from the Big brother Naija show, while Bassy was kicked out last Sunday.
Earlier, Soma, Miyonse, Coco Ice, Gifty, Uriel, among others were evicted.
Already the grand finale comes up next Sunday. Consequently, NaijaExclusive brings to you all you need to know about the remaining housemates.
1. Debbie Rise
Debbie is a 27-year-old Computer Science graduate who majored in Graphics and Web Application Development from the Federal University of Technology, Yola.
Also known as Melanin Goddess, she emerged the first runner- up of the third season of the Nigerian Idols in 2013, and has been working her way to the top since then.
The Ogun State born housemate has performed at major events within and outside the country including Felabration, Afropolitan Vibes at Freedom Park, the National Museum, Fotoplus Award night, Purple Account event powered by Wema Bank at Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife.
Debbie seem to be a top contender for the prize, as she has escaped eviction even when people thought she was on her way out of the show. She is generally criticized for her alleged low self esteem.
2. T-Boss
Born Tokunbo Idowu, she already has Nigerian entertainment superstars campaigning for her, and fans across Africa who call themselves #BossNation. The Nigerian-Romanian, who is also into piercings and tattoos, went to a boarding primary school, struggled with loneliness and making friends, and often attracted the wrong crowd.
The Edo born housemate, has a very strict father, who was tough on her and her siblings but her mother was always soft spoken and sweet.
T-boss studied at the University of Lagos for nine months before going to Romania to complete her studies. She’s an occasional drinker.
3. Efe
The Warri-born housemate is most Nigerians’ favourite and has been tipped to win the prize money and the SUV. Michael Efe Ejeba, who is a graduate of Economics, won the hearts of Nigerians with his street flows and ‘based on logistics’ slang. He is also the only male among the top 5 housemates, and also the only housemate to win the head of house challenge twice.
He grew up in Jos and has a known habit of picking his nose. He has won the Payporte Arena Game the highest number of times.
Efe moved to Lagos for greener pastures after his youth service, and loves cooking and also has a crush on Marvis.
4. Bisola
Now seen as the most controversial housemate, is a mother of one. Earlier, she was caught up in romance with ex-housemate Thin Tall Tony and then Bally before their eviction. Bisola, who was a contestant in the Project Fame edition Iyanya won, won the last and final head of house challenge in the Big Brother Naija Reality TV show.
Bisola also works with a radio station, WFM 91.7. She has revealed before now that she was a spoilt child till age 8, when her then well-off family hit some major hurdles.
She had to move to rural Nigeria where she lived with cousins selling make up and she got another shot at the high life when she came fifth in a reality singing competition.
Bisola, is very talented, revealing her comic side and using her voice to charm her listeners on her radio show on Nigeria’s first Women’s radio station – WFM 91.7.
She is in the Nollywood industry, featuring in movies like “The Life Of A Nigerian Couple” and “Forever With Us.”
5. Marvis
Marvis is the Tomboy of the house.
She has a signature hairstyle and also eats garri more than any housemate on the show.
Marvis, a Rivers-born housemate and a graduate of Mass Communication, got her degree from Madonna University, Okija.
She has the royal blood flowing in her, and the 11th child out of 21 children.
Marvis has been single for quite some time, and revealed that she ended her last relationship because she could not keep up with the long distance romance.
The Onne born entertainer, also claims she has never gotten into physical fights, as her mouth fights all her battles.

The champions’ talisman missed the 4-1 defeat of Granada last time out due to an accumulation of yellow cards, but more than made up for lost time in Wednesday’s resounding success at Camp Nou with a brace and an assist.
Messi was instrumental as Barca assumed complete control with a devastating eight-minute spell midway through the first half, setting up the opener for Luis Suarez with a trademark darting run down the right before netting twice himself.
Perhaps with their hectic April schedule in mind, there was a noticeable let-up in intensity from Barca in the second period, but there was never any danger of a Sevilla comeback as their miserable record against the Catalan giants was extended to one win from their last 20 meetings.
The win sends Barca perhaps only momentarily back to the top of the table, one point above Madrid, who travel to struggling Leganes later on Wednesday.
It was another damaging defeat for Sevilla, who had Vitolo sent off in stoppage time for a second bookable offence and are now three points behind Atletico Madrid in the race for the third and final automatic Champions League qualification berth.
